Director of Research & Consultation: Dr. Arthur M. Nezu
Dr. Art Nezu has conducted clinical research for 30 years and has published over 200 journal articles, book chapters, and books on a wide variety of areas in health and mental health. He has served on 12 editorial boards of scientific and professional journals and is the incoming Editor of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. His research has been supported by the Veterans Administration, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Mental Health. In addition, Dr. Nezu has served on multiple grant review committees for the NIH and was a standing member of two study sections of NIMH. He has conducted numerous workshops on research methodology for the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the American Psychological Association and frequently serves as a consultant to grant-funded clinical research projects.

Research & Consultation Staff
Dr. Chris Nezu has published over 125 articles, book chapters, and books and has served on numerous editorial boards of scientific and professional journals. She was previously the Associate Provost for Research and Scientific Integrity Officer for the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. In addition to having her research supported by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Mental Health, she has served as a grant reviewer for the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institutes of Health.

Drs. Nezu recently co-edited a book on clinical research methodology published by Oxford University Press in 2008 entitled Evidence-Based Outcome Research: A Practical Guide for Conducting Randomized Controlled Trials for Psychosocial Interventions. As a function of their research collaboration and consultation, they are also both Special Professors of Forensic Mental Health & Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham in England and Health Behavior Specialists for the Department of Veterans Affairs, in Philadelphia, PA.

Specific areas of consultation include:
  • Application and innovation of Problem-Solving Therapy (PST) to new populations or psychological problems
  • Training clinical staff in PST that is part of a randomized clinical trial
  • Development and implementation of treatment integrity protocols
  • Assessment of social problem solving

Clinical Consultation
We offer general clinical supervision to psychologists needing to meet requirements for licensure or board certification. In addition, we can provide specific training workshops and in-service training programs on a variety of mental health and health topics, including:
  • Problem-Solving Therapy (both generically and for specific populations, such as individuals suffering from a medical disorder [e.g., cancer, heart disease, or diabetes], depression, and personality disorders
  • Cognitive-behavioral case formulation and treatment planning
  • Coping with stress and medical illness
  • Basics in cognitive-behavior therapy strategies
